Text |
Learning Java, 3rd or 4th ed., by Niemeyer and
Knudsen (at Mary Jane Books).
This is the same text that was used for GOG 414/590. |
Supplies |
We will be using Java and Eclipse as our programming
environment. It is available in the Science Library Information Commons room.
You
may also download these packages for your own use. Click here for
instructions. |
Goals |
This course continues where the prerequisite course, Computer
Mapping/Advanced Cartography (GOG 414/590), left off. It introduces the
basics of computational geometry through Java programming in an
object-oriented framework. Throughout the course, we will supplement class
discussions with programming experience. If you have not taken GOG 414 or GOG 590, you should not
take this course. |
Grading Policy |
Your grade will be based entirely upon assignments. There are no
exams. Programming is one of those things you have to work on every day. Expect
a lot of assignments. I will not accept late assignments unless you make
prior arrangements with me! Give yourself a lot of time to complete
them. If you are not able to get an assignment working, hand it in anyway for
partial credit. It is essential that everyone do his/her own work unless I
assign a group project. No credit will be given to individual projects handed in
under more than one name unless I have explicitly assigned a group project.
Assignments will count as 100% of your grade. |
