About

Reza Feyzi Behnagh is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Theory & Practice at the University at Albany, SUNY. He has received his PhD in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He joined UAlbany in Fall 2014.

In terms of research, he is interested in how students learn and self-regulate their learning while learning about complex science topics with computer-based learning environments (CBLEs); how they plan and monitor their learning and use effective learning strategies; improving learners' metacognitive judgments; learning from multimedia content; using process and product data in studying self-regulated learning (SRL); using eye-tracking data (from devices such as SMI RED 250, Tobii T60, SMI Eye-tracking Glasses) and log-file data in researching SRL; and studying the effectiveness of Open Learner Modules (OLMs) in computer-based learning environments.

Reza has been a part of several interdisciplinary projects funded by NSF, NIH/NLM, IES and SSHRC, bridging the fields of educational psychology, cognitive sciences, science teaching, computer science, medicine, and medical decision making. Through these projects he has collaborated with several scholars at different universities in Canada (e.g., University of British Columbia) and the U.S. (e.g., North Carolina State University, Vanderbilt University, University of Pittsburgh, Illinois Institute of Technology). He has also presented at several conferences (e.g., AERA, EARLI, CogSci, AAAI) and has co-authored book chapters in international handbooks and published journal manuscripts.
