Diversity Transformation Fund Award Guidelines and Application

In support of UACCESS (University at Albany Collaboratively Creating Excellence, Scholarship and Success), faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for innovative programs and/or research initiatives that strengthen, promote and embrace diversity and inclusion at the University at Albany. Graduate student proposals done in collaboration with a faculty or staff member are also welcome.

Successful proposals should involve collaboration within or across departments, units, student organizations, or schools and focus on programs/initiatives that foster a culture of Inclusive Excellence. Previous recipients are eligible to apply if they can demonstrate the ways in which their new proposal builds upon and advances their existing Diversity Transformation Award work.

Award Amount:
Funding is a one time, state funded allocation up to a maximum of $5000.00 per proposal. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) will support projects for the 2016 – 2017 academic year beginning August 26, 2016 and ending May 13, 2017.

Types of Projects that are Eligible for Support:
Projects eligible for funding should focus on initiatives that will engage the campus community in meaningful dialogue to address issues such as micro aggressions, cultural competency, inclusion/exclusion and conscious/unconscious bias in support of Inclusive Excellence. Cultures of inclusion should reflect communities of awareness that employ activities that weave diversity and inclusion into the framework of their institutions. Conferences and symposia, film and speaker series, and other comparable initiatives are eligible. New and innovative programming will be given strong consideration.
