Snejana Slantcheva is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the University of Toledo, Ohio. She received two master’s degrees from universities in her motherland, Bulgaria: Sofia University and the American University in Bulgaria. Her doctorate in Higher Education Administration and Policy is from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she completed her dissertation under the guidance of Prof. Gretchen Rossman. Slantcheva is one of the co-founders of INSHE: International Short Higher Education network, and of the International Summer Leadership Academy (ISLA) at the University of Toledo. Her research agenda reflects her interest in comparative higher education policy analysis. Her recent work focused on the role of short-cycle higher education in aligning life-long and life-wide learning systems of education. Slantcheva has been a member of PROPHE since its inception. She is a contributor to and co-editor, with Prof. Levy, of Private Higher Education in Post-Communist Europe: Emerging Challenges and Innovative Responses in the Context of the Bologna Process (Palgrave, 2007), and contributor to The Rising Role and Relevance of Private Higher Education in Europe (UNESCO-CEPES, 2007), and to The Global Growth of Private Higher Education (Wiley, 2010).
