Dorcey Applyrs, Dr.P.H., M.P.H.

Subject Matter Expert


Dr. Dorcey Applyrs has an earned masters and doctorate in public health from the University at Albany. She is a thought leader and mentor to many. Dr. Applyrs currently serves as subject matter expert on health equity for the University at Albany’s Center for Public Health Continuing Education and the Vice President for Community Health Initiatives for the Community Foundation for the Capital Region. She also sits on the Albany Common Council after being re-elected to serve a second term. She has been acknowledged for her strong leadership and commitment to empowering others. She was named 40 Under 40 by the Albany Business Review, Young Alumni of Excellence by her alma mater, The University at Albany, 2017 Women and Girls Ambassador by Girls Inc. of the Capital Region, and Resourceful Woman by the Capital Region YWCA. She was featured on the cover of HerLife New York magazine and honored by U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand with the 2017 Off the Sidelines Equality Advocacy award. She has been invited to serve as a subject matter expert, keynote speaker and panelist by colleges and universities, non-profit and for-profit organizations and governmental agencies. Dr. Applyrs resides in upstate New York with her loving and supportive husband, Dr. Don-Lee Applyrs and their beautiful and inquisitive daughter, Noble Lee Applyrs.
