UAlbany to Host State-Run Vaccination Site

UAlbany to Host State-Run Vaccination Site

January 12, 2021

Dear UAlbany Community:

Yesterday, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced he has designated the University at Albany as a vaccination site. This is another opportunity for our University to continue its commitment to publicly-engaged work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning Friday, January 15, the state will implement an outdoor, appointment-only, walk-through site in the Northwest Resident Student parking lot / Northwest Gold parking lot on UAlbany’s Uptown Campus. The vaccination site is a restricted area that only authorized personnel and individuals with an appointment will be able to access. The site is run by the New York State Department of Health.

New York State is distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in phases based on need and risk. You can check your vaccine eligibility online or call the state’s COVID-19 vaccination hotline at 1-833-697-4829 to request an appointment. Please be patient as we understand there is tremendous traffic to both areas.

Information for UAlbany students and employees who are not currently eligible for the vaccine will be shared as soon as the University receives guidance from federal, state or county officials. While we recognize that the state's guidelines for phase 1b vaccine eligibility now include "in-person college instructors," the only information we currently have is that this cohort will only include instructors teaching face-to-face. At the current vaccination supply rate, it could take as long as 14 weeks to reach this entire population. Monitor your vaccine eligibility using the state's Am I Eligible? app, as this will be the most up-to-date source of information, and if eligible, please make an appointment to be vaccinated as soon as possible to secure your spot in line for a vaccine.

The University continues to host upstate New York’s first state-run COVID-19 drive-through diagnostic testing site in the State Quad parking lot.

As this is a dynamic issue, please follow your email, the COVID-19 website, and social media for further updates.
