Additional Surveillance Testing: Submit Sample by 5pm Friday (2/12)

February 11, 2021

Dear On-Campus Student:

Please be advised that we have seen increased COVID-19 positivity rates over the last several days among students living on campus.  As such, in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to avoid implementing additional safety restrictions on campus, all students living in University residence halls and apartments must submit an additional COVID-19 surveillance test sample by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12.

This submission is in addition to any sample you already submitted this week and does not eliminate the need to submit a sample on your normal testing day again next week

Please submit your sample in one of the following COVID-19 surveillance testing collection boxes on the Uptown Campus:

  • University Administration Building (UAB) — outside, to the left of the main entrance

  • Campus Center — two locations:

    • the south basement entrance doors, outside, near the Science Library bus stop

    • the Podium-level entry doors, outside, near the small fountain to the far right of the Campus Center entry doors

  • Indian Quad — in the hallway outside the dining hall

    • Students who live in Indian Quad can use their ID card to swipe into the building at any time.

  • State Quad — in the hallway outside the dining hall

    • Students who live in State Quad can use their ID card to swipe into the building at any time.

  • Colonial Quad — inside the Livingston Tower lobby

    • Students who live in Colonial Quad can use their ID card to swipe into the building at any time.

  • Dutch Quad — inside the Stuyvesant Tower lobby

    • Students who live in Dutch Quad can use their ID card to swipe into the building at any time.

  • Freedom Quad — outside of D3

  • Empire Commons — Commons Building

    • The Commons Building is open from 8:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and from noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

Again, please submit your sample by 5 p.m. Friday (2/12). Failure to submit a testing sample as instructed above may result in disciplinary action.

In addition, I am asking for your help in adhering to the following safety measures in the Campus Center and University Libraries:

  • Chairs and tables in the Campus Center and Library may not be moved or consolidated.

  • Only two individuals per table will be permitted in the Campus Center at any time.

  • Masks must be worn at all times when not actively eating and worn immediately when finished eating in the Campus Center.

I ask for your support in adhering to these safety measures to ensure we can continue to utilize these spaces for the balance of the semester.

As always, please continue to wear a mask, physically distance six feet or more, and avoid social gatherings.

Thank you for your cooperation! Let’s continue to work together to keep our campus and community healthy and safe and limit the spread of COVID-19!

Sincerely,

Clarence McNeill
