Surveillance Test Kit Pick-Up - TOMORROW 9/12

Surveillance Test Kit Pick-Up - TOMORROW 9/12

Dear Off-Campus Student,

All students who spend time on any of our three campuses are required to participate in the University’s pooled surveillance testing program. In an effort to make it easier for our off-campus students to pick-up a test kit, Off-Campus Student Services will be distributing kits at the Madison Park (located at the intersection of Madison Ave. & Ontario St. in the City of Albany) tomorrow (Saturday, September 12) from 1-4 pm.

Test kits are also available on the Uptown Campus at the Campus Center Information Desks, on the Downtown Campus in Richardson 102, and on the Health Sciences Campus in the George Education Center, room 100.

Once you receive your kit, you will need to register it online and await further instruction via email. Do not spit into the tube or submit your sample until you are prompted to do so via email. On the day of your test, you will be directed to submit a saliva sample to a collection site on campus.

Students who participate in the pooled testing program are automatically entered into a weekly drawing for a $500 grant (applicable for non-tuition expenses).

Note: If you have tested positive in the past, or if you are currently experiencing symptoms, please DO NOT provide a saliva sample. Reach out to Student Health Services by calling 518-442-5229 if you need to set up an appointment for testing. Questions regarding the surveillance testing program can be directed to saliva_test@albany.edu.

Finally, given the current spike in COVID cases announced yesterday by President Rodríguez, it is imperative that students adhere to all of the public health directives outlined in the Student Cares Pledge. These include not hosting and/or attending large gatherings, wearing a face mask when in public and/or within six feet of others, washing your hands regularly and maintaining six feet of distance from others. Students found to be violating these directives can be referred via the student conduct system and face sanctions up to suspension and/or dismissal from the University.

Please help us prevent further transmission of the virus by doing your part to stay safe.

Sincerely,

Luke Rumsey

Assistant Dean of Students
