Student Testing and Departure Guidelines

Student Testing and Departure Guidelines

November 13, 2020

Dear Great Dane:

As we gear up for the end of the fall semester, we want to remind you of the end of semester testing requirement and departure guidelines.

We have developed departure guidelines protocol for on-campus students to review and follow. Within it you will find information about the rules for departure, what to bring home, intercession housing and Spring 2021 housing details.

Off-campus students will find tailored information for their end of semester departure planning on the PAUSE webpage

Most importantly, all students must submit a final pooled surveillance saliva sample at least two days, but no more than four days, before your planned departure date.

You are strongly encouraged not to leave the Albany area until at least 48 hours after your scheduled date of pooled surveillance test for that week to ensure you have full compliance in our end of semester testing, which is designed to prevent further community spread. This will protect your family or others residing at your home/permanent address, as well as others in your community at home.

Finally, we wish to remind our students that these weekly testing and PAUSE efforts will be useless should students decide to carelessly host end-of-year parties putting their fellow students and families at an increased risk for COVID-19. As you prepare for departure, please continue critical public safety measures including avoiding all large gatherings.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call our COVID-19 hotline 518-442-2683 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation in our weekly testing program designed to keep yourself and your community safe.

Sincerely,

Clarence McNeill
