Visitors & Events

The University at Albany’s visitors and events protocol adheres to current New York State guidance on events and gatherings.

Masks & Physical Distancing

Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask inside all campus buildings.

Individuals who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated must always wear a face mask outdoors while on any UAlbany campus and, whenever possible, remain physically distanced from others both indoors and outdoors.

Individuals who are fully vaccinated are strongly encouraged to wear a mask outdoors on UAlbany campuses, especially when within six feet of others.

Hosts must include this information in event-related communications, including on the event’s website and during the ticket purchasing process, if applicable.

Health Screenings & Vaccination Records

Before any event or visit, hosts should ask all participants to monitor their symptoms and stay home if they are sick. Review a list of possible COVID-19 symptoms on the CDC website.

Individuals will not be required to provide proof of vaccination to attend an event or to visit campus.

Our health and safety requirements are enforced on an honor system, per CDC guidance. We ask you to please respect our campus community’s health and safety by abiding by these protocols.

Event Capacity

Events that involve physical exertion — such as dancing, exercise, etc. — pose a greater risk of spreading COVID-19. For such events, the University will reduce venues’ normal occupancy rates by at least one-third.

Please contact the Office of Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance at [email protected] for additional venue capacity guidance.

Event hosts should also consider physical distancing when selecting a venue. Please encourage all event participants to frequently wash their hands and to distance themselves from others whenever queuing up or entering/exiting a room.

UAlbany will continue to provide enhanced cleaning, upgraded air filtration and hand sanitizing stations around campus.

Campus Tours

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will ensure all campus tour participants adhere to the University’s mask mandate and other safety protocols.

Tour groups generally walk through buildings and only make a few short stops indoors for informational talks. As has been common practice, all official campus tours are accompanied by a student guide.
