    Undergraduate Information

Congratulations to the Class of 2019, the first class to experience UAlbany's inaugural Opening Convocation and all-class photo in August of 2015. You've made it to Commencement!

Now it's time to... Apply to graduate. Register to attend your ceremonies - yes, you have more than one opportunity to celebrate your academic achievements! Order your cap and gown. There are many things undergraduates need to know to prepare for the ceremonies.

We are thrilled to welcome Kathryn Marinello '78, president and CEO of Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. back to campus to deliver the undergraduate ceremony commencement address Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. on the Entry Plaza.

Undergraduate Planning Checklist
Confirm your eligibility to participate. Submit your Degree Application if necessary.

If you are planning to complete your degree in May 2019:
Log in to MyUAlbany and select the “Apply to Graduation” link to access the Degree Application form. This is a required form that notifies the University of your intent to fulfill your degree requirements at the end of the current semester. The application deadline was February 15, 2019.

Academic records will be reviewed by the Office of the Registrar, who will notify you of your status via your @albany.edu email address. If you have a deficiency, you will have until March 29, 2019 to correct it, or else your degree application will be withdrawn.

All application deadlines must be met and FERPA name restrictions released in order to have your name appear in the official printed program. Questions about degree requirements? Contact degreeservices@albany.edu.

If you have already completed your degree in August 2018, December 2018, or January 2019:
Skip ahead to the next step if you have already received a diploma and met your degree requirements. Your name will automatically be printed in the Commencement program.

If you will not complete your degree requirements by May 2019 but wish to participate in the 2019 ceremonies:
Complete the Petition to Walk Early Form by April 9, 2019. To qualify, you must have no more than two classes (8 credits) remaining to complete your degree requirements. A limited number of appeals will be approved based on qualifications and available space. Even if you are approved, your name will not appear in the Commencement program.

Share information with family and friends.

Review the schedule with family and friends, discuss ticket allotments, and determine who is attending what ceremony. If family and friends cannot attend, let them know they can tune in live! Every ceremony will be live streamed and accessible from the Video & Photos page.

Every school and college Recognition Ceremony WILL require guest tickets. Due to higher than anticipated graduate numbers, the College of Engineering and Applied Science will offer 4 guest tickets per graduate, while all others will offer 7 guest tickets per graduate.

Children two years and older, as well as any current UAlbany students who are attending as guests of the graduate, will require their own guest ticket. Students must reserve guest tickets during completion of the Commencement Registration Form (see next step).

The University-wide Undergraduate Ceremony does NOT require guest tickets, but you still need to register yourself to participate (see next step).

Direct your guests to visit our Family & Friends page for more information on visiting campus.

Register to attend your ceremonies and reserve guest tickets.

Completing the Commencement Registration Form allows you to participate in the University-wide Undergraduate Degree Conferral Ceremony and/or your school or college's Recognition Ceremony. While guest tickets are NOT required for the outdoor University-Wide Undergraduate ceremony, this is also where you will obtain tickets for your guests for each of the Undergraduate Recognition Ceremonies.

Register to attend your ceremonies:
All eligible graduates will receive instructions via email to visit Marching Order to complete the Commencement Registration Form. The registration deadline is April 16, 2019. This deadline must be met in order to participate in the ceremony.

The Commencement Registration Form is a separate and additional step from the Degree Application Form detailed in the first step. The Degree Application Form must be completed in order to be considered a UAlbany graduate and have your name appear in the official printed program; this Commencement Registration Form must then be completed if you wish to participate in any undergraduate ceremonies.

Reserve your guest tickets:
Every school and college Recognition Ceremony requires tickets (the University-wide Undergraduate Ceremony does not). Children two years and older, as well as any current UAlbany students who are attending as guests of the graduate, will require their own guest ticket.

A limited number of 'unclaimed' guest tickets will be released and registered students will be notified via email (including a login hyperlink) for a chance to secure extra guest tickets on a first-come, first-served basis until all tickets have been claimed.
