Campus Cleanup Day

Campus Cleanup Day 2019 - Tuesday, April 23rd (Rain Date Thursday April 25th)

Please join us for the University's 23rd Annual Campus Cleanup Day! Beginning with fewer than 100 participants in 1997, we now routinely exceed 500 volunteers. Cleanup Day is a time when faculty, students, staff and administrators work side by side to prepare the campuses for Commencement Weekend and other signature events that occur during the late spring and summer. Work opportunities are available at the Uptown, Downtown and Health Sciences campuses.

The work will consist of gardening and trash pickup.  If you are interested in 'light duty', you can be a site supervisor. We will provide a check in list for volunteers and have tools and supplies for you to distribute to your site workers. You will also record student participation for community service hours.

This year, we will only be working in the morning from 9:00am until 12:00 noon. You do not have to work for the entire time - if you only have an hour free, please come out and join us!

Lunch will be provided for volunteers at all sites.  Vegetarian, kosher and gluten free options are available.

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for outside work and bring a hat and sunscreen. Work gloves and tools will be provided.

Registration will begin on Monday, March 25th.

Campus Cleanup is also a vital component of the University Stormwater Management Program. Leaves, debris and litter, can result in pollutants entering the University storm sewer system, which ultimately discharges to nearby streams and the Hudson River.
