The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences is one of nine schools and colleges within the University at Albany SUNY (UAlbany). Currently, UAlbany is making a major investment in building engineering degree programs, and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences is in an exciting period of rapid expansion.

Strategically located in the state capital of New York, UAlbany is an internationally recognized public research institution with a diverse population of approximately 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The city of Albany is located on the Hudson River in beautiful upstate New York, in close proximity to the Berkshires, the Catskills, and the Adirondacks, and is convenient to the metropolitan centers of Boston, Montreal, and New York City. The region provides abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation.

We are a research-intensive College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in the tradition of the best high-caliber public programs in the country. The cornerstone of our college, the Department of Computer Science, has a record of achievement going back decades. Our first of many engineering programs, Electrical and Computer Engineering, was established in 2016. Our Environmental and Sustainable Engineering program launched in Spring 2019. Programs in several other engineering disciplines are in development. The College has also embarked on a dual degree program in Computer Science with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China.

From our downtown location we engage the community, looking to inspire a more diverse generation of students to pursue careers in the engineering and applied sciences. Our programs provide an engineering and applied sciences education that prepares students for careers not just in the engineering sciences, but also for careers and/or postgraduate studies in many other fields, including law, medicine, finance, management, and more.

Computer Science, Professor of Practice and Lecturer Positions

Beginning Spring 2020. The Computer Science Department at the University at Albany, SUNY is seeking full-time Professors of Practice and Lecturers. Positions are three-year, renewable, 10 month appointments.

The Computer Science Department at University at Albany offers bachelors and masters degrees, a combined BS/MS, a computer science minor, and a doctoral program that prepares students for research careers as a creative scholar or industrial scientist. Professors of Practice and Lecturers are integral to the Department’s teaching mission, which now includes a dual degree program just launched in Computer Science with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in the beautiful Yangtze River Valley of China. Successful applicants will teach in the program core both at UAlbany and, every second or third semester, at Chongqing – with additional compensation and all expenses covered.

Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics Technician

Beginning Spring 2020. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University at Albany, SUNY is seeking an Electronics Technician. The Electronics Technician's key functions are to maintain teaching laboratory facilities and equipment, organize and maintain electronic parts and equipment inventories, and design, build and test specialized electronic equipment as needed for teaching and research.

The required education and/or experience level for this position is either 2 years of trade school followed by 2-3 years of progressive experience, or 1 year of trade school with 1 year apprenticeship and 2-3 years of progressive experience. Candidates without trade school, but who can demonstrate 5-7 years of progressive relevant experience will also be considered.

Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, Postdoctoral Researcher

Beginning Spring 2020. The Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at University at Albany, SUNY seeks to recruit multiple Postdocs to work in the broad field of environmental and energy sustainability.

The candidates must have a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. The successful applicants are expected to have rich experience in fundamental and applied research related to using biochemical, bioelectrochemical, and thermochemical processes to address environmental and energy sustainability.
