The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences is one of nine schools and colleges within the University at Albany SUNY (UAlbany). Currently, UAlbany is making a major investment in building engineering degree programs, and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences is in an exciting period of rapid expansion.

Strategically located in the state capital of New York, UAlbany is an internationally recognized public research institution with a diverse population of approximately 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The city of Albany is located on the Hudson River in beautiful upstate New York, in close proximity to the Berkshires, the Catskills, and the Adirondacks, and is convenient to the metropolitan centers of Boston, Montreal, and New York City. The region provides abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation.

We are building a research-intensive College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in the tradition of the best high-caliber public programs in the country. The cornerstone of our college, the Department of Computer Science, has a record of achievement going back decades. Our first of many engineering programs, Electrical and Computer Engineering, launched in 2016. Our Environmental and Sustainable Engineering program is about to launch, pending final state registration. Programs in several other engineering disciplines are in development. The College has also launched a dual degree program in Computer Science with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China.

From our downtown location we will engage the community, looking to inspire a more diverse generation of students to pursue careers in the engineering and applied sciences. Our programs provide an engineering and applied sciences education that prepares students for careers not just in the engineering sciences, but also for careers and/or postgraduate studies in many other fields, including law, medicine, finance, management, and more.

Computer Science, Open Rank Faculty Positions

Beginning August 2019. The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, University at Albany seeks applicants for faculty positions, open rank, in its Department of Computer Science.

The successful senior candidate will have an established record of funded scholarship with demonstrated potential to influence the growth and development of computer science programs at the University at Albany. The successful junior candidate will show strong potential to develop a leading-edge research program, in addition to UAlbany’s expectations for effective teaching and professional service.

Computer Science, Professor of Practice and Lecturer Positions

Beginning Fall 2018. The Computer Science Department at the University at Albany, SUNY is seeking full-time Professors of Practice and Lecturers. Positions are three-year, renewable, 10 month appointments.

The Computer Science Department at University at Albany offers bachelors and masters degrees, a combined BS/MS, a computer science minor, and a doctoral program that prepares students for research careers as a creative scholar or industrial scientist. Professors of Practice and Lecturers are integral to the Department’s teaching mission, which now includes a dual degree program just launched in Computer Science with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in the beautiful Yangtze River Valley of China. Successful applicants will teach in the program core both at UAlbany and, every second or third semester, at Chongqing – with additional compensation and all expenses covered.

Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, Postdoctoral Researcher

Beginning Spring 2018. The Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at University at Albany, SUNY seeks to recruit multiple Postdocs to work in the broad field of environmental and energy sustainability.

The candidates must have a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. The successful applicants are expected to have rich experience in fundamental and applied research related to using biochemical, bioelectrochemical, and thermochemical processes to address environmental and energy sustainability.
