Dean of UAlbany's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Kim BoyerWelcome to the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

At the University at Albany, we consider engineering to be “Science in Service to Society.” This viewpoint informs our program development, our interaction with the community and beyond, the professional preparation of our students, and our rapidly growing research agenda.

UAlbany offers an outstanding education in an expanding range of the engineering sciences. As part of a comprehensive, engaged, public research university, our engineering program is unique in the Capital Region. We offer an unmatched level of diversity and intellectual cosmopolitanism to enrich the educational experience as it prepares our graduates for rewarding careers. Our graduates are very well prepared for the complex and dynamic world they will step into, being technically sharp, intellectually adept, and socially aware. We deliver excellence; as a public university, we do so affordably.

Inspired by our world-class faculty and challenged by a rigorous research-intensive education, our graduates leave well prepared to take their places among the next generation of innovators who will create solutions to problems of critical importance and build the national wealth. Our faculty and students conduct scholarly research at the leading edges of their disciplines. Research is not confined to our doctoral programs, either; we encourage our undergraduates and masters students to become engaged in research, as well.

Our programs prepare graduates for careers in the engineering sciences, as well as for careers and/or postgraduate studies in many other fields, including law, medicine, finance, management, and academia. Our location, in the heart of New York’s Tech Valley, offers a range of applied learning experiences through internships and cooperative education in the local metro area. New York City and Boston, with all that they offer, are also in close proximity.

Please take some time to browse our site and those of our departments and programs. We think you’ll find plenty to pique your interest. I also point out that we are in a period of vigorous growth; we add new programs every year.

Questions? Just ask; we look forward to hearing from you.
