Applying for Graduate Study

Graduate degrees through UAlbany’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) prepares students for careers in a variety fields, from private industry to government or higher education. The application procedure for admission to graduate programs is managed through Graduate Admissions. Students interested in pursuing graduate study at CEAS can start by reviewing degree requirements through the University’s Office of Graduate Education. Once prepared, students can begin the application process for graduate study. Computer Science

Doctoral student working on research project with Professor SoyataThe master’s degree in computer science is open to students holding a bachelor’s degree with at least a minor or its equivalent in computer science, mathematics, or a combination of both. Students are also required to complete the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

Students who want to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A major in computer science or mathematics is desirable, but not necessary.

Computer Engineering

Graduate programs in computer engineering are currently in development and going through the official approval process. Prospective students interested in pursuing graduate study in computer engineering should contact a Computer Engineering faculty member for advisement. Research interests, publications, and brief faculty bios are included on faculty member pages.
