Recommended Specifications for Laptops and Desktops

Supported Computers

The PC Service Center is certified to repair Apple and Dell computers. Using the above specifications, Apple’s MacBook Pro and iMac are recommended. For Dell, the Optiplex (desktop) and Latitude (laptop) are recommended. Purchasing outside these recommendations may cause the setup and ongoing maintenance of your computer to take longer. If you plan on purchasing outside of the above recommendations, contact CAS Computing to ensure your choice will work with the University’s technology infrastructure.

Supported Printers

The PC Service Center is certified to repair HP laser printers. Ink jet printers and multi-function printer (MFPs) are not supported by PC Repair. A service contract should be purchased from the vendor to handle repairs for expensive ink jets, MFPs and non HP printers. CAS Computing supports the printing function of lasers, ink jets and MFPs and will connect them to the network if the printer is networkable. Wireless printing is not supported.

Supported Multi-Function Printers (MFPs)

Please consult with CAS Computing before purchase. CAS Computing will support the printing function on all MFPs and will support the scanning function if the MFP has Papercut functionality. This requires the purchase of a Papercut license (see Papercut). The PC Service Center will not repair MFPs so a service contract must be purchased from the vendor to cover repairs for large/departmental MFPs.

CAS Computing will install and support all computer related equipment on a best effort basis.
