Warren Roberts

Professor Warren Roberts, Distinguished Teaching Professor, was recently awarded the Nancy Lyman Roelker prize for the mentoring of students at all levels from undergraduates to doctoral candidates by the American Historical Association. As an author of four books about French and English artists and writers of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Professor Roberts' central area of interest, in both his teaching and writing, has been the interplay between history and the arts. He also has taught courses on Albany and written stories on Albany during the period 1775 to 1825.

Looking back on his 45 years of teaching, he has particularly enjoyed giving talks to local audiences. Professor Roberts received his Bachelors, Masters, and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He has been part of the faculty at the University at Albany's Department of History since 1963.
