Tenth Annual College of Arts and Sciences Dinner

On October 30, 2012, the College of Arts and Sciences held its tenth annual dinner at Terviso by Mallozzi’s at the Italian American Community Center. The annual event is hosted by the Office of the Dean. Over 120 guests attended this year’s dinner.

Dr. Duncan Cumming, Associate Professor of Music, provided an entertaining and thought-provoking presentation titled “From Bangkok to Bangor and Other Adventures in the Performer’s World.” Professor Cumming spoke on the trials of the touring pianist, being upstaged by a piano during a recording, apprenticing to the artist Frank Glazer, and his efforts to bring classical music to young people through his Youth Movements Festival and his children’s story From Bangkok to Bangor.

Guests took home a souvenir post card with a From Bangkok to Bangor illustration made by Professor Cumming’s wife, Hilary, who is an adjunct professor and violinist in the Department of Music.

The annual dinner began in 2003 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the formation of the College of Arts and Sciences.
