ALBANY, N.Y. (November 28, 2007)

What:
Honda FCX prototype fuel cell vehicle (FCV) demonstration as part of UAlbany's "Go Green" Initiative

Who:
Sponsored by UAlbany's Green Commerce Committee and the New York State Office of General Services

When:
Thursday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Open to the public

Where:
Campus Center, near gazebo and bus stop, University at Albany uptown campus, 1400 Washington Ave., Albany

Background:
FCVs fueled with pure hydrogen emit no pollutants -- only water and heat -- while those using hydrogen-rich fuels and a reformer would produce only small amounts of air pollutants. In addition, FCVs can be three times as efficient as similarly sized conventional vehicles and may also incorporate other advanced technologies to increase efficiency.

UAlbany's Task Force on Environmental Sustainability, created as part of UAlbany's "Go Green" Initiative, works to assess the state of the University's sustainability policies and practices through the work of several committees, including the Green Commerce Committee. The Committee's goals are to examine procurement practices at UAlbany; assess the waste stream and potential for composting and replacing "disposables" with "re-usables;" and focus on "green" product purchases.

The University at Albany's broad mission of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research and public service engages more than 17,000 diverse students in 10 schools and colleges.
