Media Advisory: Farmer's Market Returns to UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 30, 2007)

What:
University at Albany Environmental Sustainability Committee, Chartwells, and University Auxiliary Services will host a farmer's market as part of the UAlbany Go Green initiative, the proceeds to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

When:
Wednesday, October 31, 2007
10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where:
Podium in front of the Campus Center, University at Albany Uptown Campus

Background:
Proceeds from the sale of locally grown apples, vegetables, cider, pies, bread, baked goods and more will be donated to the Regional Food Bank. The Farmer's Market is part of the University at Albany's Go Green initiative, a comprehensive environmental initiative encouraging the University at Albany faculty, staff, and students to "think and act green" by embracing the University's responsibility to conserve, recycle, and beautify the campus and environment.  The October 12th Farmer's Market held at the University at Albany raised more than $5,000 from Chartwells, along with contributions from University Auxiliary Services and UAlbany vendors such as the Barnes and Nobles book store, Canteen Vending, and Coca-Cola.
