Statement from SEMATECH and College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering

ALBANY, N.Y. (July 25, 2007) -- Joint statement from Dr. Michael R. Polcari, President and CEO of SEMATECH, and Dr. Alain E. Kaloyeros, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, UAlbany College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering:

We are pleased that Governor Spitzer has signed into law the legislation approved unanimously by the New York State Assembly and Senate that will provide for a historic and unprecedented expansion of International SEMATECH in Albany. We are grateful for the remarkable vision, extraordinary leadership and steadfast support of the Governor, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, through which International SEMATECH and the UAlbany NanoCollege are poised to lead the world in game-changing nanoelectronics research, development, commercialization and economic outreach. The result will be further enhancement of New York State’s growing recognition as a global leader in the most important science of the 21st century and the development of new opportunities for additional high-tech innovation and investment in New York.
