Tamra Minor Named UAlbany's Assistant Vice President and Director of Diversity and Affirmative Action
ALBANY, N.Y. (July 12, 2007) -- The University at Albany announced today the appointment of Dr. Tamra Minor as Assistant Vice President and Director of Diversity and Affirmative Action in the University at Albany's Division of Student Success. Minor served as Associate Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Diversity at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she specialized in issues associated with diversity, affirmative action and equity.
"Dr. Minor is a proven leader in higher education and her experience will advance the University's diversity and affirmative action goals and mission. We are thrilled to have her join us," said Provost and Officer in Charge Susan Herbst. "I am also grateful for the work of Dean Katharine Briar-Lawson and the search committee for their extraordinary commitment to the process."
Minor previously served as Director of Organizational Development at Columbus Public Schools in Columbus, Ohio and also held positions in research/assessment, recruitment, retention services and human resources at Ohio State University. Her research, teaching and service has focused on the development and implementation of equity programs, policies and practices.
Minor was selected after a national search chaired by Dean Katharine Briar-Lawson, School of Social Welfare.
"Dr. Minor brings a unique combination of strengths associated with administrative leadership, diversity, affirmative action and academic excellence," said James Anderson, Vice President for Student Success and Vice Provost for Institutional Assessment and Diversity. "I was very impressed with her knowledge-base, her charisma and her inspirational vision."

Minor obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and her advanced degrees, including a doctorate in consumer/family economics, from The Ohio State University.
Minor will assume the post in August.
