Media Advisory: UAlbany Celebrates Fountain Day

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 13, 2007)

What
The University at Albany will celebrate Fountain Day, its annual rite of spring, when the UAlbany campus community gathers at the main fountain on the campus podium to see it turned on for the season. Students celebrate with games, contests, prizes, free food, music and entertainment.

Who:
Officer in Charge and Provost Susan Herbst will conduct the ceremonial countdown to signal the turning on of the fountain.

When
Sunday, April 22, 2007, noon - 4 p.m.
Fountain will be turned on at approximately 3 p.m.
 
Where:
Academic podium, UAlbany's uptown campus, 1400 Washington Ave., Albany, N.Y.

Background:
Fountain Day began in 1978 as Human Awareness Program day and the celebration was moved from a weekday to Sunday in 2005 allowing for more faculty and staff participation. UAlbany students, faculty, and staff attend this event, which is sponsored by the Student Association and the Division of Student Success.
