Donor Impact

An investment in the School of Business can take on many forms and has an immeasurable impact on students, faculty and programs.

Donor Spotlight

We are grateful for the many donors who impact the School of Business.

Areas of Impact

Please consider making a gift online to one of the following key areas:

Unrestricted Giving

The School of Business Annual Fund
When a donor chooses not to specify the way his/her gift may be used, this gift is called "unrestricted."
Unrestricted funds, such as the School of Business Annual Fund, are a very powerful form of support because they allow the School to use them as it sees fit, where current, and often time sensitive, needs are greatest.

Unrestricted funds may be used for many kinds of assistance, such as:

  • Student support
  • Faculty support
  • Research aid
  • Books, collections and supplies purchases
  • Technological upgrades

Restricted Giving

Funds given by a donor for a specific purpose or to support a particular department are called “restricted.”

The following are a few examples of restricted giving:

Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

Financial Aid awards allow the School to attract and retain the highest-achieving students and assist those with financial need. This general scholarship fund will support any School of Business student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

John Levato Scholarship

Since the passing of John Levato in 2014, many alumni, faculty, students and friends have supported this scholarship to honor his memory. It is awarded to a School of Business student who demonstrates academic achievement, service to the School of Business, the University community and community at large.

In memory of John Levato

Office of Career Services Fund

Career Services initiatives provide the programs, classes, and real-world experience needed to prepare students to succeed in the competitive workforce. This fund supports many career related initiatives such as student travel to attend interviews and take part in company site visits.

Center for Institutional Investment Management

Established in 2002, CIIM’s goals are to support institutional investment research, foster interaction between finance students, faculty and finance industry practitioners, oversee the student investment group, the University at Albany School of Business Investment Group,  and help to underwrite our Bloomberg Terminals.

Create Your Own Scholarship

Many alumni and friends have established scholarships to recognize student academic achievement and  ease financial burden. A scholarship gift can be made as a one-time gift on an annual basis or through an endowment that lasts in perpetuity. Scholarships can be named in honor or memory of a loved one, a former classmate or professor, or as a family named fund. For more information, please contact Bill Roller at (518) 956-8312 or

Gift Planning

Gift planning offers a variety of ways to structure contributions to the University to provide maximum benefits to the donor, their families and heirs, and the University. These include gifts with special financial, investment, tax, or legal considerations and might involve assets other than cash (such as securities, real estate, art, or life insurance), bequests, charitable trusts or life-income arrangements.
