Long-time Mentor and Advisor John Levato Passes Away

It is with great sadness that the School of Business notes the passing of John Levato, longtime Assistant Dean for Alumni Relations & Development and Career Services.  John was a trusted advisor and friend, devoting most of his life to supporting the career development of School of Business students.  His motto was "students first."

During his 35 years at UAlbany, John served as a trusted mentor and counselor to thousands of students, taking great pride in mentoring students to succeed both academically as well as in their life pursuits. He took great pleasure in maintaining contact and ultimately creating lifelong friendships with countless students after graduation.

John Levato was honored with the University Excellence in Service Award in 1979 and 2004, and the University Excellence in Academic Advisement Award in 1982.

In late April, the School of Business will host a special event to celebrate his legacy. Details are forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been set up in John's name at the University at Albany with contributions being accepted at any SEFCU location. You may give on-line at albany.edu/giving (please note "Levato Scholarship" in the comments section.)
