Scholar Athlete Success

The spring of 2013 brings a group of stellar students who combine School of Business work with passion and skill on the sporting field.

Athletes’ days start early. They take morning classes to be free for afternoon practices and games. In the evening, it’s study and then bed. The cycle repeats the next day. Summer vacations are cut short for pre-season prep. There is little time for student clubs, internships and a social life. Anything that isn’t scheduled doesn’t happen.

Football player and accounting student Jake Meek said, “Playing sports means there is no time to slack. Do it now or it doesn’t get done. I don’t know what it’s like to have free time.”

Five years ago, eight scholar athletes were profiled on these pages.  Here is what they are doing now.
