I am a weaver and am interested in women's craft activities.

I am interested in investigating how cultural differences are viewed and how our perspectives and knowledge are constructed. My research interests have been cultivated by my experiences of difference and my academic training in the United States. I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, where I had little experience of engaging cultures that are different from my own. In my master's thesis, Small Jazz Ensembles and Ideals of Urban Social Interaction, I have addressed a metaphysical question of how we can move towards a heterogeneous society where people are not just focused on being united as a harmonious whole, but rather creating urban realms in which different people interact without merging or socially segregating. I would like to do a creative interdisciplinary research project for my doctoral dissertation.
