Assistant Vice Provost for Applied Learning

Debra R. Gelinas serves as a Assistant Vice Provost for Applied Learning, working on applied learning initiatives for the University. Gelinas has vast experience in experiential curriculum & program development. Her interests and expertise include student development through experiential learning, linking learning outcomes to practical experience, program assessment, and policy development. 

Prior to her time at the University at Albany, Gelinas was the Director of Experiential Learning/Chair of Internship Programs at Berklee College of Music. She also has spent time working at Northeastern University in Cooperative Education and Graduate Student Services. 

Gelinas earned a Doctorate of Education (EdD) in higher education administration from Northeastern University. Her doctoral thesis research focused on adult learners and internships. Gelinas also earned a Master’s degree from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College.
