Wiki Service Guidelines/Information

BACKUPS

Backing up a wiki space is the responsibility of the space owner.  Owners should make and store timely backups of their own spaces.  Documentation for this will be available in Confluence and covered in the training sessions.  Should a user’s individual space be compromised by a user of that space, the only way to restore that space is by using a backup created by the space owner.

If a space owner needs to have their wiki space restored, it is imperative that the owner have a zip file of wiki space backup available.  Client Support Services will coordinate the restoration of the wiki space.  All work on the wiki space from the time of the backup to the time of corruption will be irretrievable.

PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION ("PII")

Wiki space owners should be careful not to allow PII to be included in any wiki space. Please be aware that by the above Backup policy, should there be any PII in your space, this PII will also exist in your backups. Therefore, care should be taken when storing these backups. ITS recommends storing these backups on your network share for this reason, as that provides security as well as a secondary backup via the LAN backups.

WEB ACCESSIBILITY

Wikis are web pages, and should therefore abide by the University's Universal Web Accessibility Policy.
