Advent Banner

Dominate Color: Blue

Size: 54Óx84Ó

Artist: Peg Normandin

Description:

The Advent season focuses on the coming of Jesus Christ. The season is also the start of a new Christian Year. No year stands alone; it is linked with the past and the future. Advent speaks of a coming of Jesus Christ- of the past, future, and present.

A large Advent Wreath is the dominant central motive of this quilt. The wreath is a continuous circle-it has no point of beginning or ending, the circle is an image of eternity or fullness. The four candles of the wreath are often used to symbolize faith, hope, love and joy or sometimes prophets, angels, shepards, and Magi. As the four candles illuminate the progressive season od Advent we await in anticipation the coming of Christ. At the bottom of the quilt is a crown that symbolizes Advent as the coming of Christ as the King of Glory.

Blue is the color of Advent and it dominates this quilt. It is the symbol of truth. Its use during Advent is meant to elicit hope in GodÕs truth; in these royal shades, blue heralds the coming of the King-Jesus Christ!
