Opening and Saving WordPerfect Documents in Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word 6.0c can open and save WordPerfect documents. Go to the File menu and select
Open. The following dialog box will appear.
Make sure that the List Files of Type field says All Files (*.*) and that the box next to
Confirm Conversions has an X in it. Go to the drive and directory where your WordPerfect file is
located, double click it and the following window appears.
Scroll through the formats and choose the version of WordPerfect that you need. Word can convert from
WordPerfect 5.0, 5.1 for DOS, 5.X for Windows, 6.0 for DOS and 6.1 for Windows. Hit the OK
button and your document will open.
Saving Your Converted File
When you save your file by going to the File menu and selecting Save, the following
window appears.
You have the choice of saving the file in Word or whatever version of WordPerfect that the file was
originally in. If you want to be able to open the file in WordPerfect, save it as a WordPerfect document,
otherwise save it in Word format. Click on the appropriate button and the file will be saved to the drive and
directory that it was originally in.
