The Albany State Ski Team is a Student Association sponsored organization competing against colleges and universities in the Mideast Conference of the US Collegiate Skiing Association (USCSA). During the regular season we typically attend 5 races at mountains including Whiteface. We compete against athletes from Colgate, RPI, Clarkson, Skidmore, US Military Academy and other area colleges and universities. During the race season, practices are generally held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, MA. In January, before the racing season begins, we spend a week in training at one of the larger eastern mountains. The team trained at Smuggler's Notch, Vermont in 2000 and Tremblant, Quebec in 2001, and Gore Mountain in recent years. The season concludes with Conference, Regional and National Competitions pending qualification. Postseason there are a number of fun social gatherings including parties, nights out, barbeques, etc. Ski Team, as with any team, is a great way to make new and lasting friends!
