The Health Psychology Laboratory is directed by Dr. Sharon Danoff-Burg and run by a team of clinical psychology graduate students and undergraduate research assistants. Our primary research area is health psychology, with individual interests of each lab member covering a range of topics within the field. We investigate stress and coping processes both in an experimental context and as they occur naturalistically, because both types of research have the potential to improve interventions designed to help people confronting adversity. Some topics of study include posttraumatic growth, written emotional expression, and mindfulness. Many of our research studies focus on coping and adjustment to chronic illness, such as lupus, cancer, and rheumatoid arthritis. Please use the links to explore the research interests of our lab members, and feel free to inquire about our current projects and how you can get involved.
