Substance abuse, mental health (particularly trauma), poverty and provider lack of cultural competency are 4 important barriers to delivering quality health care services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

In recent years, I have extended my clinical experience in these 4 areas, to the research arena.  In collaboration with other researchers, I have been involved with studies that identify:

1) barriers-to-care for people living with AIDS
2) challenges for providers in engaging and retaining people with HIV/AIDS
3) innovations in delivering health care and social services to this population.
