will be in LC 23 at

on 2/24, 3/17/, 3/31 and 4/14
*As
of fall 2001 the Student Association for Communication
will now be known as the National Communication
Association.
Mission
Statement:
The
National Communication Association is devoted
to educating its members by helping them gain
an understanding of communication and communication
practices through workshops, guest speakers, and
events. We will motivate and encourage our members
to succeed by giving them valuable knowledge and
preparing them for today, tomorrow, and beyond.
We
are currently looking forward to having speakers
come down and tell us about their careers in communication,
networking, and joining the National Communications
Organization. We are open to any student who has
an interest in communication regardless of their
major. We will also be getting involved in fund-raising
and community service. New members are welcome
to come at anytime.
Announcements:
Dues
are $20 for the year and $15 for a semester. If
you did not pay for the NCA membership, you can
still be a member of NCA, but you will not get
national recognition.
Anyone
who is interested in joining Lambda Pi Eta should
let us know and we will help you apply for it
during this semester. To be eligible to join this
prestegious organization, you must have at least
60 college credits with a 3.0 cumlative GPA. You
must also have 12 communication credits with a
3.25 GPA. If you meet those requirements all you
have to do is pay a $20 lifetime membership fee.
*NCA
will be hosting a series of workshops in conjunction
with CDC, including Resume writing, time management
skills, and team building skills.
*We
will be bringing in speakers this semester in
the fields of Broadcasting and Journalism. When
dates are finalized, there will be another email.
*There
will be NCA-sponsored luncheons with faculty.
This is an excellent way to develop a rappore
with a professor and an excellent chance to ask
in depth questions outside of the usual classroom
or office. It looks like there will be a luncheon
with Professor Harrison, Chair of the Communication
Department sometime towards the end of October,
and a luncheon with Professor Barberich sometime
in November.
*If
you have any questions about Lambda Pi Eta, please
email Professor Cooren. If you are eligible you
should be getting an envelope in the mail sometime
soon
