Writting Assignments for those in mat367Z

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This course is a first course in Probabilities. We will learn about probabilities, counting techniques and discrete random variables. We will also learn a bit of continuous random variables, specially the Normal Distribution, to later study limits of distributions. Lastly, we will study Random Walks and Markov Chains.

Grading:

Event Weight
Four Exams  25% each
Total 100%

For those taking the writing intensive version, M367Z, there will be 3 writing assignments. If these assignments are acceptable, then you'll receive the grade according to the grade received in the regular exams quizzes and projects, but if your writing assignmets are not acceptable, your final grade will be low enough so that it will not count for the writing requirement.

Exams: The tentative schedule for the exams is:

It is your responsibility to be aware of the dates of the exams and the content and due date of assignments. The information is listed in the course page. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to be aware of the topics discussed during that class and the assigned homework.

There is no reason to miss an exam other than getting sick (bring note from doctor), being on a team that has a game at the same time an exam is given (bring a note from your coach), or a death or serious illness in your family (bring a note from your family). In the event you can not attend an exam, you must notify me in advance, otherwise your grade for that exam will be 0. You can contact me by phone 442-4641 (leave a message if I'm not in), stop by my office (leave a note if I'm not in) or send me an e-mail: [email protected].
