Welcome to Paul Miesing’s Homepage!

Hi, and please make yourself at home. I’m officially housed at the Business School of the State University of New York at Albany, where I teach and conduct research in strategic management broadly including executive vision and leadership; organizational learning and transformation; technology transfer; cross-culture management and organization; corporate social responsibility and business ethics; and strategic and pedagogical use of information technology. I have published dozens of articles and papers in both academic and practitioner journals, and helped many audiences, including companies, civic groups, industry associations, and government agencies, both locally and internationally. I designed this page to share my experiences with you, so browse around as long as you like and feel free to try anything you want to. I’m still developing my pages and would certainly appreciate your feedback. Office Phone/Voice Mail: (518) 442-4942.

2006-2007 New Course Development: Created and taught the MBA course "Global Strategic Management" as the cornerstone integrative experience that included "Exercise: Negotiating Outsourcing" and "When you WISH Upon a Star" to accompany another exercise; also, was the keynote speaker at the New York Public Library’s Leadership Academy and became a member of the Academy for Character Education Community Advisory Board

2005-2006 Family Events: Marc begins working for Artech (see "Fudan University - Perpetual Morning Glory" and "Heading for China"); Debbie is in our MSW Program. My father passed away, and my mother moved in. I was also the treasurer and president-elect of The Benedicts, a local dinner-dance club.

Parsons) from the Allied Academies International Conference (April); received the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award in the School of Business; and (again) appeared in Marquis Who’s Who in America ... also spent a month in Vietnam sponsored by Royal Education.

2001-2002 Getting Personal: I moved out of the dorms into a real house. My daughter Debbie graduated, and within a year was off to Samoa as a Peace Corps volunteer. My son Marc went to Fudan University in Shanghai to study abroad for the year. Did some traveling (of course!). By May married Lilly and spent the next couple of years fixing up our "house from hell."
2000-2001 Affiliations and Visits: Taught Strategic Management at Ericsson China Academy (jointly administered by the Norwegian School of Management, Fudan School of Management, and Lund University) Master of Management Program in Infocom (Beijing); Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, arguably the best business program in India (read about it in the University Update); at Consultrain (in the Dominican Republic); and Graduate School of Business in Zurich

1998-1999 Internationalization: Fulbright Scholar (read about it in the University Update) at Fudan University in Shanghai, arguably China’s top MBA program (read my China Diary!)

1997-1998 Humanities: Taught in our Project Renaissance program (an interdisciplinary, highly-coordinated one-year course in which freshmen experience complete intellectual immersion unbounded by time and place, and in which they are free to share their intellectual curiosity)—this is my Social Science Module

1996 Instructional Technology: Sabbatical supported in part by the GE Fund to develop a model course (click here to see the result, The Social, Political, and Ethical Dimensions of Business ... and presented “In Search of the Ethical Leader in Amoral Markets” at universities throughout Denmark, Sweden, and Norway as well as “Strategic Management of Change” for Executive Development Program at The University of the West Indies in Trinidad (Oh yeah, also developed this Web page)
