smribbon (1K)Introduction and Scope Pancreatic cancer results in fewer than 2% of newly diagnosed cases of cancer per year, however, it makes up 5% of the year's fatality rate. Once the symptoms have announced themselves, it is usually too late to expect complete recovery, if treatment is prescribed, at all. The purpose of this pathfinder is to provide a starting point for individuals interested in learning more about this deadly disease. The sources will be most appropriate for those interested in the history and description of the disease, various treatments, coping mechanisms, and various alternative methods of therapy. More importantly, this pathfinder is for those directly affected by pancreatic cancer to use in the desperate search for answers. The resources mentioned by the pathfinder will focus on more recent information, most within the last few years, as the field of cancer research is constantly in flux.
