CLASS OF 1957 MINI-REUNION

On Thursday, September 3, 2009, a group of alumni from the Class of 1957 held a small class picnic at "The Crossings," a Town Park on Albany-Shaker Road in Colonie, NY. According to Dan Brown, Class Contact, "The weather was perfect and we spent the afternoon in a beautiful, secluded, quiet place in the park."

Within the photo and generally beginning at the left are: Bill Rulison, Jean Eisenhart, Bill Hoff, Bob Knouse, Betty Wassmer-Finn, Dan Brown, Jiggs Englander, Wayne Somers, Roger Stumpf, Moria Hickey-Witt, Bob Kercull, and Ginnah Hunnington-Howard.

Not shown are classmates who left before or after the photo, friends, and spouses: Jackie Bonczyk Wilson ('56), Ann Quickenton Hoff, James Allen Cohen, Maria Hartman, Penny Male-Stumpf, and our photographer, Jane Somers.

ANOTHER DR. THEODORE H. FOSSIECK SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

I was recently notified that Nicole Branchini, whose mother graduated from Milne, received a $500 Dr. Theodore H. Fossieck Scholarship for the current school year. Nicole was also awarded this scholarship in 2007 and 2008. Congratulations, Nicole!

You may recall that Dr. Theodore H. Fossieck, principal of the Milne School from 1948 to 1972, established an annual scholarship to the University at Albany for students who are descendents of a Milne School graduate or faculty member. Application information for next year will be posted in an early spring alumni newsletter.

YOUR FIRST LOVE MAY BE YOUR LAST LOVE!

It's nice to receive "happy" news occasionally. From Shauna DONLEY McNally, Class of '68:

"Tim McNally (Class of '67) and I went steady for Tim's junior and senior years.  When Tim graduated, my family moved to Massachusetts so although I attended Milne grades 7-11, I missed my senior year there. Tim and I broke up, married other people, and lost touch until a couple of years ago when we found each other on classmates.com.

"We were married on August 1st and now live on a horse farm in Pennsylvania, where I teach special needs children how to ride while Tim coaches the women's soccer team at Montgomery County Community College.

"Sometimes your first love really is your last love!"

SAD NEWS

The following Milne alumni, attendees, and family members passed away recently. Please note that I rely upon the Albany Times Union and input from other alumni for this information, so if you become aware of someone who has passed away, please let me know. If a name is underlined, it represents a link to the obituary. The Times Union links are available free for 30 days after the initial posting; after 30 days you will have to use the Times Union archives (which now appear to be free also). Other newspapers may have different timetables.

Jack C. RICKELS, Class of 1948, and brother of Edward H. RICKELS, Class of 1945, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009.

Thanks to all of you for your interest in Milne Alumni activities.
