VIRTUAL REUNIONS

Thirteen members of the Class of '61 recently participated in a Zoom "Reunion" meeting. It was especially heartwarming that among those attending were classmates who were unable to attend previous in-person reunions. We agreed that we should do this again soon. I would recommend planning a virtual reunion for you and your classmates as a wonderful way to reconnect, especially during a time when so many of us are feeling isolated.

MESSAGE FROM DEAN ELSWORTH, '67, REGARDING LEWIS OUELLETTE, '69

Dean Elsworth '67: "While geocaching in Albany recently, a cache brought us to the city's Vietnam Memorial and I was able to find Louie Ouellette's ('69) name. I had been corresponding with him while he was over there and then had a batch of letters returned as 'Undeliverable,' although it is possible that I'd already heard of his death. He was part of the running teams and fit in well with our pack.

"This afternoon [May 24], I just happened to be listening to the Siena radio station. They were playing a wide selection of Memorial Day and other loss-related music and I remembered Louie again. So I decided to share my memory of him and I'm also wondering if there are other members of the Milne community whom we should also remember at this time."

In 2014, Mary Welch, '71, and I started a list of names of Milne alumni who died serving in the military. Mary found the following list in Milne archival material:

David Kirk, '20
David Johnson, '22 (not on a class list)
Jack Benjamin, '32
Tobias Van Keuren, '37 (not on a class list)
Jack P. Beagle, '38
Edgar Harding, '38
Richard (Dick) Alexander Selkirk, '38
Robert (Bob) Bingham, '40
Armon Livermore, '40
Robert (Bob) Stevenson, '40
Robert (Bob) Barden, '41
James Haskins, '42
Louis Austin, '44
Louis Charles Ouellette, '69

Perhaps there are Milne alumni who are able to contribute to this list. We do want to be careful to determine that all deaths have been confirmed.

Mary's hope was to honor all Milne alumni who died serving in the military perhaps by placing a plaque in the back of Page Hall. From our past experience with UAlbany, I'm not sure whether that's possible or practical. However, we could have such a list posted on our University-sponsored webpage. Please contact me with any information you are able to provide or to volunteer to do some research regarding our alumni who died serving our country.

MESSAGE FROM A FORMER FACULTY MEMBER

From Dr. John A. Green: "I was delighted to have recently discovered the Milne website --- fyi, I am listed there as "Mr. Green" under the Assistant Principal and Faculty/Staff headings; you might want to update the information to "Dr. John A. Green (Assistant Principal/Director of Research)," roles I filled from 1972 to 1976."

I was happy to make that update. A number of you probably remember Dr. Green.

SAD NEWS

Please note that I rely upon legacy.com and input from other alumni for this information, so if you become aware of someone who has passed away, please let me know. If a name is underlined, it represents a link to the obituary. Many obituaries are available free for a limited time only.

June BROOKMAN Kinney, '43, sister of the late Barbara BROOKMAN French, '45, passed away on May 23, 2020.

Thanks to all of you for your interest in Milne Alumni activities.
