FORMER MILNE LIBRARY LITHGOW MURAL STATUS

I have been in touch with UAlbany's Bill Hedberg regarding the restoration of the former Milne Library murals. According to Bill, there are still four murals to be renovated, two of which he hopes will be completed this summer. Bill is still waiting for the estimated cost from the conservator.

If Milne Alumni would like to contribute to this project, they are welcome (and encouraged!) to do so. He assured me that all funds contributed to the project by Milne Alumni have been and will continue to be used solely for mural restoration. Checks should be made payable to the University at Albany Foundation with a designation that they are to be applied to the Lithgow Mural Restoration Project. Send your donation to:

William B. Hedberg, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
University Hall 308
1400 Washington Avenue
Albany, NY 12222
518-956-8030
518-956-8043 (fax)

I asked, "Is there any possibility that there will be a plaque indicating that Milne Alumni helped restore the murals?" and he responded, "That's our plan."

If you have any further questions, I would suggest that you contact Bill at the above address or telephone number.

JON KURLAND, '69, ELECTED

Jon Kurland, Class of '69, was elected Selectman for the Town of Chelmsford, MA, on April 6.  He had served on the Finance Committee for 7½ years and ran for Selectman this Spring. His wife, Saralyn (Sara) Brown Kurland (Class of '70), was his campaign manager. Congratulations, Jon!

MILNE YAHOO! GROUPS

There are currently three Yahoo! Groups relating to all Milne Alumni.

1.  The "main" group, to which you all belong: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MilneSchoolAlumni/

2. The newsletter group, through which monthly newsletter announcements are made: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/milnenewsletter/

Only the administrator can post messages to those two groups.

3. Finally, there's http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Milne_School/, which was set up four years ago so that alumni could "converse" with one another. Unfortunately, to date there are only 32 members, and there has been no activity for over a year (other than a discussion regarding closing the group!). Therefore, unless someone would like to take over administration duties, I am going to close this Yahoo! Group.
