Please mark your calendar and save these dates! We have reserved a block of rooms for Friday and Saturday nights at a locked-in rate of $124 plus applicable taxes. The telephone number for the Marriott is 800-443-8952. The cut off date for the reservations and guaranteed rate is May 29, 2009.

Friday - 7-10 p.m. We will gather for a Meet and Greet in the Empire Room at the Marriott Hotel on Wolf Road, Albany. Appetizers will be provided, and there will be a cash bar. Dinner arrangements are up to the individual.
Saturday - 10:30 a.m. We will have a Brunch tour of the beautiful Hudson River aboard the Dutch Apple. The boat is wheel-chair accessible and will be for our exclusive use. Shove off will be at 10:30 a.m. and the tour will last about 2 1/2 hours.  The price for the Brunch tour will be dependent upon how many people attend.
7 p.m. to 12 midnight. A reception will be held in the Empire Room with appetizers and a cash bar. The reception will be followed by a dinner. Menu selections will be available later.
It would be very helpful if you could let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in attending the reunion. We have to let the Marriot know soon how many will be attending. If you are interested in attending the reunion, please call, email or write John Murphy so that he can forward this information to the reunion committee so they are able to estimate the number of attendees.

"This dark debut is a wrenching account of a mother and son moving together and apart in an increasingly tragic family drama. In alternating memoirs, Del and Mark deal with heroin addiction and mental illness (his) and fears (hers) of a fate marked by junkies, pushers, halfway houses and recovery programs. But it's the persistent ghosts of a father and another son, and the guilt over their deaths that hold Del and Mark in a vise grip. Between grief and addiction, there's no easy forgiveness for these sad survivors. Through one bitter, lonely year, Mark and Del lose and find one another repeatedly, and they come to realize that loving someone means letting them love themselves. Howard is a graceful, spare and fluid writer, and her somber and bleak novel has the power to lift and inspire." -- Publishers Weekly review (1/12/09)

Although Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will not release the novel until April 14, 2009, it can be preordered now at most popular book sites. You can learn more at Congratulations, Ginnah!
