DIGITIZATION PROJECT UPDATE

New total, thanks to new donations from Charles "Chuck" Currey, '56, and Charles "Chuck" Eson, '64: $15,040! Just under $10,000 to go! If you haven't yet donated...or wish to make an additional contribution, please consider doing so now.

Click here for the first group of Milne "stuff" to be digitized and uploaded. Please note that the website developers have added a link to the "Milne School Murals and Friezes." It's such fun to see Milne School documents online...and all documents are searchable. Be sure to "bookmark" the above link for future reference. The developers continue to "tweak" the site so that it's more user-friendly. In addition, images of Milne sports trophies will soon be added. It will be wonderful to have all these Milne School memories available to us at all times!

But remember...we're not finished yet! Donations are still needed so that we are able to complete this project. If we, as Milne School Alumni, don't ensure that our memorabilia is preserved...who will?

For further information, see https://www.albany.edu/~milne/Project.shtml. For an updated list of donations see https://www.albany.edu/~milne/DigitizationDonations.pdf.

MILNE TROPHIES

If you are on Facebook and one of the 308 members of the Milne School Alumni Facebook page, you know that Chuck Eson, '64, has posted photos of Milne sports trophies, in addition to a list of trophies arranged by year, then sport, size, condition, type, and honors. We hope to eventually upload these photos here. Thanks, Chuck Eson, '64, and Steve Rider, '67, for all your work on this project.

GOOD NEWS!

Diane REED Slatterly, '58, is pleased to announce the recent publication of Xenolinguistics: Psychedelics, Language, and the Evolution of Consciousness. "The first in-depth look at the relationships among language, consciousness, and psychedelics, Xenolinguistics is a quick-paced, immersive, and comprehensive course that draws from personal experience, ethnobotany, anthropology, the stories of other psychonauts, neurophenomenology, and the research and lifework of legendary psychonaut Terence McKenna.

"In Diana Reed Slattery’s Xenolinguistics, the experienced psychonaut—literally, 'soul sailor'—details her eleven-year journey of research and psychedelic exploration into the heart of Glide, a symbolic language she accessed while in an altered state of consciousness. This exploration takes the reader on an adventure into the bizarre and beautiful landscape of the human psyche as we experience Slattery’s discoveries, downloads, and access to 'the Other,' the pervasive numinous guiding presence" (from DianeReedSlatterly.pdf as sent to me).

From Richard ("Dick") L. McEwan, Sr., '58: "In December I received the initial shipment of my first book: The Adventures of Sir Buddy and Mr. Pupples...The Rescue. It is a children's picture book about our two dogs and is rated 2nd to 3rd grade reading level. The story revolves around a lost puppy and his ultimate rescue. Within the story the reader is introduced to the concept of fostering animals. My hope is children will think about the story when they come upon a lost dog or cat and with the aid of an adult help find its family or a new home. "In May 2013 I retired to the Outer Banks of North Carolina after living in Virginia for over 40 years. My wife, Christie, has a daughter and her family living here, and my younger son Briggs and his family live just south on Hatteras Island. My older son, Chardy, lives in Atlanta. We have four grandchildren and one on the way...and what a great joy it is to be living so close to them all!"

Ginna HUNTINGTON Howard, '57, has written her third book in a trilogy, Rope & Bone: "Publishers Weekly Review (2/6/15): Howard weaves together a collection of short stories (some previously published) to create this brutal, powerful novel, the final piece in a trilogy (after Night Navigation and Doing Time Outside) about two very different women and the children upon whom their accidental sins are visited. Though separated by age, education, and circumstance, Del Merrick and Carla Morletti lead parallel lives in a grim upstate New York hamlet, both struggling to gain a toehold in their worsening marriages while helplessly watching their children slip away. When the two become friends after a chance meeting, Del's and Carla's families are irrevocably linked, and as their entwined stories begin to unfold, both women make decisions that reverberate far into everyone's future. Spanning from 1946 to 1993, the book lays bare Del's and Carla's lives with quiet compassion, wit, and an unhurried anticipation. Stunning in its simplicity, Howard's lean prose belies the detail and richness of the characters she conveys" (http://booklife.com/project/rope-bone-a-novel-in-stories-1195).
