What is rush?
Rush is a period of time in which interested women can learn more about the different organizations on campus and the sisters in these organizations. One of the most important things to remember during rush is to keep an open mind. Our rush is designed for all interested women to come out, have a good time, get to know our sisters, and see what Kappa Phi Lambda is all about. And best of all, everything is free!

Do I have to be Asian to join?
No. Kappa Phi Lambda is an Asian interest sorority, however, we are NOT Asian exclusive. We have many different nationalities represented within Kappa, and as cultural sorority, we promote cultural diversity as part of our mission.

What is a bid and how do I get one?
A bid is an invitation to begin the intake process, given at the end of rush week.To be eligible for a bid you need to attend at least 2 social events, 1 general interest meeting (GIM). You are welcome to attend more events. In addition, you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Unfortunately we cannot take first semester freshman because you need at least 12 college credits, but we encourage them to come out to rush anyway! If you receive a bid, and decide to accept, then the next step is the intake process.

What is the Intake Process?
The intake process is a period of time in which you learn about the sorority, and is a journey in becoming a sister. There are no specific guidelines on how long it will be, or how hard. But, the purpose of the intake process is to challenge you and to teach you more about yourself, your line sisters, and the sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda. We do not haze, and there is never a moment that Kappa Phi Lambda would put you in an embarrassing or harmful situation.

Will the Intake Process Affect My Grades?
The first and most important reason that we are at the University at Albany is to get an education. We stand for academic excellence, and during the intake process time is allotted for your studies.
