service & Philanthropy

Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority is an organization which prides itself on its sense of commitment to the three pillars of Sisterhood, Service and Cultural Diversity. Each year, the Sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda work to go above and beyond limitations in hopes of providing service and giving back to our communtiy because we recognize that our communities and culture is what has made us the strong and independent women that we are today. We see that the community has given us so much and through service we work to reciprocate that which we have received to the communities around us. Sisters participate in individual community service events of their choice, but we give support to causes as a unified organization and entity as well.
In addition to the community service work that we do, Kappa Phi Lambda, as an organization, also commits to a specific cause. As an Asian American interest sorority, we celebrate the prospering of different Asian ethnicities in America, but we also recognize the issues that Asian American women face in American society. Our national philanthropy, the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum, or NAPAWF , focuses on the empowerment of Asian American women by helping them overcome issues like domestic violence, hate crimes, economic injustice, and immigration rights. Through legislative reform, media attention and grassroots movements, NAPAWF is dedicated to helping women on 6 different platforms.
While we continue to support our national philanthropic cause, the Upsilon Chapter has adopted Polaris Project as its chapter cause. The mission of Polaris Project is to combat modern day slavery and human trafficking which not only renders individuals weak and abused, but also strips a person of their human rights. While the members of Polaris Project works to strengthen the anti-trafficking movement, the Sisters of Upsilon Chapter offer support through benefits and events in which all proceeds goes to Polaris Project.

cultural diversity

As said before, Kappa Phi Lambda's third pillar is Cultural Diversity and the Sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda strive to emphasize the importance of cultural diversity not only within our own organization, but to the communities around us as well. While we do classify ourselves as a Pan-Asian interest sorority, we most certainly do not limit membership to those of Asian descent. Our sisters come from a variety of backgrounds including French, Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, Latina, Thai, Irish, Filipina, Indonesian, British, and Japanese. Through diversity, we are able to broaden our horizons and for this reason we always welcome young women of interest from all walks of life and all ethnic backgrounds. The Sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda never stop in our attempt to educate our members, schools and communities about Asian culture and we stress the importance of awareness on events that occur in our society. Each semester, we host a myriad of cultural workshops in hopes of continuing this cause of educating our communities about Pan-Asian culture.
