![]() Josalyn came to SUNY at Albany in the Fall of 2000 with a major in Art and a minor in Archaeology. She decided to pursue her intrests further and to apply to the combined BS/MLS program offered at SUNY. She is now a senior in that program. The BS/MLS Program offers many varied paths in which Josalyn could complete her Masters and this was very attractive to her. Josalyn also has a degree in Art and Design from F.I.T. Her intersts at this time are learning more about technology, library science and exploring children's literature. She would like to somehow incorporate her art and design background with a solid background in technology and research since she is aware that no matter what field you eventually work in, research and technology will have a prominent place. Josalyn currently works two part time jobs. She is employed at the Visiting Nurse Association of Albany, Inc. and the Business Services Group, Inc. While a student at F.I.T. in Manhattan, Josalyn did her internship at Accessories Magazine (Business Journals Inc.) as assistant to the Fashion Editor. She found this to be a most challenging and exciting internship. Although none of her work expereince or internship are directly related to her present educational endeavors, all have given her some opportunity to learn new software, deal with the public and private sectors, work on business plans and produce a finished product. At the Tavern On The Green on June 3, 1998 Josalyn received the prestigieous Kenneth Cole Award for her shoe design from FFANY (Fashion Footwear Association of NY). Josalyn has the hands of an artist, but she has learned that art is not only confined to paint, clay, textile or wire, art can be brought to new levels such as designing a web page, learning a new language or writing a program. "The true artist, like the true scientist, is a researcher using
materials and techniques to dig into the truth and meaning of the world in
which he himself lives; and what he creates, or better perhaps, brings
back, are the objective results of his explorations. The measure of his
talent, of his genius, if you will, is the richness he finds in such a
life's voyage of discovery."-Paul Strand |
