CITIES OF MATHEMATICS AND DESIRE

From

Part One: WARGAMES

This long performance poem, winner of the Poetry Society of America's Di Castagnola Award, is a series of counterpointed dialogues between such pairs of characters as Nerval and his lobster, and King Kong and Fay Wray. Juxtaposing structures taken from Akhmatova's Poem Without a Heroand from Apollinaire's Song of the Unloved, it looks at social, linguistic, and mathematical chaos through extravagant performative frames.
