| Overview |
Distance learning programs are alternatives to traditional education. They allow for greater individualizing for course planning with the goal to obtain a degree. These programs are designed to focus on adult learning needs and are ever changing into other fields such as a children's focus in the K-12 grades and even in different organizations. The context and structures of education are changing and distance learning is an integral part of these changes. Computer technology with open access to technology and the Internet has changed the field of distance learning. Our team will explore this issue of technology and the impact it has on distance learning. Geoffrey's page will be a general overview of the idea of distance learning, including a brief history of the topic. Mary Cay will discuss the idea of telehealth as it pertains to distance learning in her page. Ofek's webpage is going to discuss the Distance Learning and Training Council, while Justin will discuss the usability of distance learning websites as well as evaluating them in a more general sense. Sara is going to discuss the role that technology plays in distance learning. Jessica is going to discuss some of the references and resources that may be used when studying the topic of distance learning in order to obtain more information on the subject. |
