Marilyn is an 18 year-old girl, who is graduating from high school. All of her friends just went out and got cool, new tattoos. Not one to be out done, Marilyn decides to get one for her self.

Marilyn's parents have warned her not to dare get any tattoos on her body, and she knows that she will be grounded for the whole summer if she disobeys them. But Marilyn runs with a wily crowd of rule-breaking kids, and she doesn't care what her parents think. She's a rebel.

So Marilyn gathers her friends for a discussion on what type of tattoo she is going to get. She wants something cute and feminine, something that will accentuate her predisposition for colors like pink and yellow. One of her favorite ideas is to get a butterfly tattoo and her friends like that idea too.

Her other idea is to get star tattoos on her lower stomach. How risqué! Such tough decisions to make on the cusp of adulthood: stars or butterflies? Both are beautiful, natural objects. Both fulfill her desire to get something special and girly.

She decides to consult with her boyfriend, John. After some thought, he decides she should get "Property of John" tattooed on her forehead. She decides to ignore him because his idea is stupid.

Left to her own thoughts, Marilyn prepares to make this very important decision. She arrives at the tattoo parlor alone, and tells the artist that she would like...
